London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay

Torchbearer Doris Collins with the Mayor of Lancaster

Torchbearer Doris Collins with the Mayor of Lancaster

The Olympic Torch Relay passed successfully through the Lancaster district on Friday 22 June.

To commemorate the event, and to showcase the input of the many inspirational people who helped make it such a success, Morecambe Bay Movie Makers have produced a video which you can view below.

The views expressed in this video are those of the content provider and do not necessarily represent those of Lancaster City Council.

Thanks to all those who came out to see the Torch - you did us all proud!

Following the Torch Relay all the torchbearers were invited to Lancaster Town Hall for a civic reception to celebrate the day.

The mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Sheila Denwood, welcomed them to the town hall and also accepted one of the torches from Doris Collins, who completed the Scale Hall part of the relay, on behalf of the communities of the district.

The torch will be kept as a reminder of the special day and plans are currently being made to ensure that our communities are able to see it close up.
