Parks and Promenade
We operate and maintain a number of parks, recreation grounds, playing fields and open spaces across the district. We also manage the promenade and immediate sea front area along the district's coastline.
Lancaster City Council is launching a campaign for everyone to 'Take Pride in Your Park'. Read all about how you can get involved by visiting the campaign page here.
Morecambe promenade offers stunning panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
Nearby Happy Mount Park retains a quiet relaxing atmosphere, with ornamental gardens, a cafe, and a modern splash park for children of all ages.
The Ashton Memorial dominates the Lancaster skyline, sitting in the extensive grounds of Williamson Park.
Play areas and playing fields
Other parks, play areas, football pitches and playing fields across the district (some with all-weather surfaces) offer bowling, tennis, basketball and football facilities and more. Follow the links in the left hand menu for more information.
Organising events on council land
We have parks and open spaces that are suitable for all kinds of events. For further information see our page on organising events on council land.
Friends of Parks
Friends of Parks groups play a vital role in protecting and enhancing local parks, woodlands, play areas and green spaces in the area.
Friends groups also contribute to the Take Pride In Our Parks campaign.
Parks and grounds maintenance
Please see the links on the left of the screen for information on individual parks.
We are responsible for the upkeep of parks and open spaces in the urban core, including grass cutting, litter bin emptying, play facilities and pitches, and tree pruning and felling, as well as planting and maintaining a large number of flower beds across the district.
