Promenade Launching Permits are available to enable individuals to gain access to Morecambe's waterfront.

General Information
The promenade slipways are zoned to accommodate powered and non-powered craft.

The necessary permit must be obtained before launching your vessel from one of the slipways at Morecambe by writing to or forwarding the relevant completed application form(s) to Cultural Services, Town Hall, Marine Road, Morecambe, LA4 5AF.
- Permits are valid between 1st April and 31st March each year.
- Permits usually take 5 working days to process and will be posted to you.
- Please Note: Insurance documentation will be required at the time of application.
- Day permits are also available and can be obtained from Morecambe Visitor Information Centre.

Application Details
Powered Craft (includes jet skis, personal watercraft, powerboats)
Access: All types of powered craft must launch from the Green Street slipway (adjacent to the Lifeboat Station). Map 1 - Green Street Slipway (PDF 136K)
Application Form: Form A - Powered Craft Launching Permit (Word 35K)
A Launching Permit Application Form must be completed by persons wishing to launch a vessel, at any time during the year.
Duration: Each permit is valid for one year between 1st April and 31st March. Renewal notification is sent out at the beginning of each year. However, please note that if applying for a permit during the course of a year, it will still need renewing on the following April.
Required:
- Fee £15.00, chargeable for a launching permit
- 2 passport size photographs
- A copy of the vessel’s liability insurance, which must be accurate and up to date.
- Purchase of a datatag, if your vessel does not already have one - fee £50
Notes:
- Please note that if the vessel you are wishing to launch does not have insurance or a datatag for the vessel then access to the slipway will be refused.
- This permit should be displayed clearly in your vehicle whilst you are attending your vessel.
- All powered vessels need to be registered with a data tag. Some boats and or jet skis may already be registered with a data tag number, in all such cases the Council needs proof and access to the vessel identification number.
- Datatag Packs have a unique vessel identification microchip number, which is individually assigned to your craft not its owner and remains with the boat. It cannot be transferred from vessel to vessel so if the vessel is changed and it does not have this data tag a new one must be obtained.
- There are 11 car spaces available on the Green Street slipway with spaces available opposite for trailers for the use of persons with launching permits. If these spaces are unavailable, alternative parking must be found.
Non-Powered Craft
Access: For safety reasons, Non-Powered vessel owners must launch their craft from the Town Hall Slipway (opposite Morecambe Town Hall on the Promenade). Map 2 - Promenade Slipway Zoning (PDF 426K)
Application Form: Form B - Non-Powered Craft Launching Permit (Word 34K)

Notes: Once your completed application has been authorised, you will be issued with a Launching permit for launching your vessel from Morecambe Town Hall Slipway. This permit should be displayed clearly in your vehicle whilst you are attending your vessel. There is parking available for the use of launching permit holders. Data tags are not required.
Disabled Angling Permits (Stone Jetty) - For vehicle access on to the jetty
Access: Via the barrier opposite Northumberland Street.
Application Form: Form C - Stone Jetty Parking (Word 32K)
A Permit Application Form must be completed by
Disabled Anglers wishing to fish, any time during the year from the Stone Jetty
Duration: The permit will require changing if or when the angler uses a different vehicle.
Required:
- 2 passport photographs
- Obtain a swipe card to gain access beyond the barrier (£12.00)
- Photocopy of Disabled badge (both sides)
Notes: Attach copy of badge to form. Once your completed application has been authorised, you will be issued with a Stone Jetty Permit and swipecard (if required).
There is a speed limit of 10mph and hazard lights must be on whilst driving on the promenade.

Disabled Angling Permits (Grosvenor) - For vehicle access onto the Grosvenor Breakwater
Access: Via Oakley Road
Application Form: Grosvenor Breakwater Disabled Parking (Word 47K)
A Permit Application form must be completed by Disabled Anglers wishing to fish, at any time during the year from the Grosvenor Breakwater.
Duration: Each permit is valid for one year between 1st April and 31st March. Renewal notification is sent out at the beginning of each year. NB: Please note that if you are applying for a permit during the course of the year it will still need renewing in the following April. The permit will require changing if or when the angler uses a different vehicle.
Required:
- 2 passport photographs
- Photocopy of Disabled badge (both sides)
- Fee £6.00
Once your application has been authorised, you will be issued with a Grosvenore Breawater Access Permit. There are limited parking bays available at this location. If these are unavailable, alternative parking must be found off the promenade area.
Moorings

Duration: From 1st April to 31st March (NB If applying later in the year, permits require renewal the following April.
Required:
- Access to Moorings permit
- 2 passport photographs
Notes: The permit must be displayed in your vehicle. The mooring registration form must be completed and the position of the mooring indicated on Map 3. We advise that vessel insurance is obtained as a precautionary measure.
Commercial Fishermen
Access: For any type of commercial fishing you must initially contact either the Promenade and Outdoor Facilities Manager, on 01524 582847 Outdoor Ranger, on 01524 582833 to discuss access, fishing zone designation, etc.
