Regent Park Master Plan

Lancaster City Council has been working closely with the Friends of Regent Park and Lancashire County Councils Environmental Directorate to prepare a master plan to guide the future development of the park.

Over the last few years Lancaster City Council and the Friends of Regent Park have undertaken numerous consultations in order to understand the priorities of local residents in the potential development of this much enjoyed park and to determine the future appearance of the park.

Three priorities were identified from the initial consultations 1) The provision of a new play area, 2) The provision of a competition bowling green and 3) the redevelopment of the current multi-games area.

With two of the three priorities now delivered and the third being worked on; Friends of Regent Park and Lancaster City Council commenced a further consultation exercise during March 2008 in order to gain further views of local residents on how the park should be developed further, subject to funding being available.

A total of 300 questionnaires were dispatched to households within the Regent Park vicinity. In all 102 responded which gave a consultation response of 34%. These responses, along with previous consultations, were then used to develop this master plan.

The next steps will be to have the specification and costs for the master plan prepared and to then seek funding to implement some or all of the aspects.

In order to be successful we require community involvement, through the local support of the Friends of Regent Park group. If you are interested in working with us to develop the park and implement the master plan your very welcome to join us at the next friends of Regent Park meeting at the cafe in Regent Park.

Please find a copy of the Master Plan design in the 'Downloads' column.
