Do you want to help shape the future of Ryelands Park?

Ryelands Park is a great recreational facility for the whole community, and with 40 acres of green space it has huge future potential.

A project is currently under way with members of the community to look at the future possibilities for the park, with a view to developing a master plan.

If you live near or use the park, or have memories or stories about it, and you care about its future, we want to hear from you.  Find out how to get involved below, or read the latest news.

What are the future prospects for the park?

Lots of ideas have been put forward and it is hoped that in the future the park will offer more for a wider variety of people and age groups. Just some of the ideas people had include a BMX track, adult exercise area, community garden, dog exercise area, and cafe.

Funding has already been secured from United Utilities to improve the play area, and work is due to start in September 2012.

Latest News

Back in December 2011 we held an event where local people came to share their views of the park and what they would like to see in the future.  You can see the photos and videos of the day on the Ryelands Park Facebook page.

Following the December event, lots of people - young, old, and somewhere in between, said they wanted to help develop the future of the park.  On 25 January around 70 people met to share ideas and skills.  Here are some of the comments that people made about the meeting:

“I think it inspired me to do more things to our local area”

“I feel positive and hopeful that something good will happen”

“Great to see so many local people”

What happens next?

There is already a huge amount of enthusiasm for the project and the next step will be to decide how to take things forward.  Keep checking this page and Facebook for details of forthcoming events.
