Public transport in the Lancaster district is co-ordinated by Lancashire County Council. The county council is also responsible for providing transport to school (where appropriate), information, concessionary travel schemes and more.
The county council works with operators, district councils and other bodies on innovative projects such as real time information, quality bus schemes and rural services.

Lancashire County Council and Lancashire bus operators jointly fund the county's traveline service on 0871 200 22 33.
This forms part of a national network of that provides up-to-date timetable information on local bus services between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
Calls are charged at standard rates. The Lancashire call centre also has a textphone.
Timetables and maps
Leaflets are available from wide range of public buildings including libraries, council offices, information centres and many more. Leaflets are either produced by Lancashire County Council, (these will give details all the buses that operate along a particular route) or by the bus operator (these will usually only give information about the services they run).
On request the county council will produce large print versions of any leaflet or translate leaflets into other commonly used languages, free of charge.

The NoWcard is a smartcard aimed at making travel on public transport simpler for those eligible for concessionary fares. It has been set up jointly by Cumbria and Lancashire County Councils, and Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Borough Councils, in conjunction with the district councils of Lancashire and Cumbria.
