A Travel Plan is a way of managing how people and goods travel to a particular site. Could a Travel Plan help your business? Find out how to get started and where to get help.

The main aims in developing a travel plan are to:

  • Reduce the number of (single occupancy) vehicle journeys

  • Promote and encourage travel by more sustainable modes

  • Reduce the need to travel at all

Why are we developing travel plans?

  • Steadily increasing road traffic is producing unsustainable levels of congestion meaning that journeys become slower, more unreliable and stressful

  • Levels of air and noise pollution are worsening - cars are a leading source of greenhouse gases which lead to global warming

  • Our health is suffering through increased pollution and road traffic accidents and the associated reduction in physical activity

  • Improvements to infrastructure & information make workplaces and facilities more accessible for all

What are the main benefits?

  • Savings on travel & fleet costs

  • Improved health and well being

  • Improved air quality and noise pollution levels

  • Improved travel options for all in the local area

  • Easier access to site for visitors and deliveries
