Strategic Housing & Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA)

Strategic Housing & Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) 2018

We are currently undertaking a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) for the district. The methodology updates the 2015 Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) methodology and provides the framework through which the deliverability of sites will be assessed.  Unlike the SHLAA the SHELAA also contains an assessment on employment land delivery combining the assessment of housing and employment land in the district for the first time.

The Strategic Housing & Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) is a comprehensive assessment of potential housing land within the district. It will be key to ensuring that sufficient, suitable land is identified to meet the housing needs of existing and future residents in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). The SHELAA is a central piece of evidence used to allocate housing sites.
