Statement on the Manchester terror attack
The Leader of Lancaster City Council, Councillor Caroline Jackson, spoke today about the attack on the Manchester Jewish community.
"As Leader of the city council, I have sent a message of deep sympathy and shock to Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester. As a community we can hardly begin to understand how this has affected the whole Jewish community in Manchester and the North West. I know we are very aware of how devastated and afraid local residents, part of the Lancaster and Lakes community, must be feeling. I have sent a personal message to Ben Soffa their chair. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who are suffering so much from the attack yesterday."
Councillor Suhir Abuhajar is Chair of Lancaster district Communities Together group, which brings together all faiths and cultures represented in our area. She added: "Lancaster is a diverse district dedicated to bringing its members closer together through dialogue and sharing of culture. We condemn all anti-semitism and racism . We know in honour of the Manchester Jewish community, we must redouble our efforts to spread the message of inclusion and counter those who wish to divide us with hate and fear."
