Extra support for those facing financial hardship
Residents facing financial hardship are being encouraged to apply to Lancaster City Council for support from its Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF).
Funded by the UK Government, this new support scheme has been set up to provide targeted assistance for individuals and families experiencing unexpected financial difficulties.
The CRF is available to residents who are struggling to meet essential living costs due to circumstances such as a sudden loss of income, emergency situations, or unexpected expenses.
Support available includes help with food and essential household supplies, energy and utility costs, essential household items, and other urgent financial pressures.
In addition to crisis support, help is on offer to ensure residents are receiving all the benefits they are entitled to, alongside budgeting and debt advice to help improve longer-term financial stability.
Councillor Mandy Bannon, Cabinet Member for Communities, Well-Being and Partnerships, said: "We know that unexpected costs or changes in circumstances can place real pressure on households and it’s important people know they are not alone.
“The Crisis and Resilience Fund is there to provide practical help when it’s needed most, whether that’s with essentials like food and energy or support to get finances back on track. I would strongly encourage anyone who may be struggling to come forward and see what support is available."
The CRF replaces the former Household Support Fund (HSF). Residents can find out more and apply online by visiting www.lancaster.gov.uk/crf.
For those who need help completing an application, support is available by calling 01524 582000 (option 7) or by visiting Lancaster Town Hall or Morecambe Town Hall. Both town halls are open from 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
