500 solar panels to Gateway (the old Reebok building) on White Lund to generate local renewable energy

We’re de-light-ed to have fitted 1,500 solar panels to Gateway (the old Reebok building) on White Lund to generate local renewable energy.  Occupied by manufacturing tenants, this is one of our most energy-intensive commercial buildings, making solar investment a sensible choice.  The new 775kWp solar array is expected to produce enough electricity to meet at least 60% of the building’s annual demand — with any surplus energy exported back to the grid. By reducing reliance on imported energy, we will improve resilience and help manage the impacts of future energy price spikes, whilst also generating income to support the council’s future financial stability [15 June 2026].  You can view  how the Council is investing in Lancaster Energy Future.

Williamson Park Decarbonisation Scheme

The works will modernise ageing infrastructure, reduce carbon emissions, and make the park and its facilities more efficient, accessible and resilient. This investment, for which most of the funding will be coming from Phase 3 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS), will play a crucial role in helping Lancaster City Council meet its target of achieving net‑zero carbon emissions from its own operations by 2030, while supporting the wider district’s transition to net zero by 2050.
