Our museums are publicly owned and run by Lancaster City Council, but our funding is limited. Your donations help us to care for our collections, purchase new objects, and display them for everyone to enjoy.

Your donation will support Lancaster City Museum, Lancaster Maritime Museum, and the Cottage Museum. Want to donate to the King's Own Royal Regiment Museum? Visit this page instead: Support the King's Own.
We also welcome donations in person at all our museums:
- By credit/debit card at the City or Maritime Museums - Please let the front desk staff at know that you would like to make a donation and they will be happy to help.
- In cash at any of our museums - Use the donation boxes near the entrance to the City or Maritime Museums, or talk to staff at the City, Maritime or Cottage.
Please Note: A small percentage of any donations made by credit/debit card will be taken in bank charges.
Joining our museum Friends group is a great way to support the musems and get involved in fundraising, talks and special events.
Membership costs only £10 a year for individuals or £16 for families, and comes with a range of benefits:
- Support the Museum and help it acquire new treasures for future generations.
- Free entry to all Friends’ talks and events (usually £3 for non-members).
- 10% discount in the Museum Shops.
By joining, you’ll be helping to keep Lancaster’s rich history alive while enjoying a welcoming community of people who share your interest in local heritage.
