Your Voice Matters: How Tenants Help Shape Housing Services
We want you to have a real say in how housing services are planned, delivered and improved. Your views, experiences and ideas help us understand what is working well and what needs to change. You can get involved in different ways, including resident meetings, surveys, estate walkabouts, scrutiny reviews, consultations and feedback forms. We use what you tell us to help shape decisions about housing services, policies, repairs, investment and local neighbourhood priorities.
We share your feedback with housing staff, managers and decision-making groups so it can be considered before decisions are made. Where a decision needs formal approval, tenant views are included in the reports and discussions that support that decision. We will report back clearly so tenants can see what has changed because of their feedback. This includes sharing updates through meeting notes, newsletters, website updates and “You Said, We Did” information.
By working together, tenants and housing services can make better decisions, improve services and make sure tenant voices are heard at every level.
Get Involved
You do not need any special knowledge or experience to get involved. We welcome all views, whether you have joined in before or are taking part for the first time.
We would really like to hear from you. Whether you want to share an idea, tell us about your experience, join a resident group or simply find out more, there are lots of ways to get involved. Please get in touch with the Community Engagement Team — your voice can help make a real difference to housing services.
"Tenants' Voice" refers to a variety of programs and initiatives designed to involve you as council tenants or leaseholders in shaping and improving the services you receive from your landlord Lancaster City Council.
These groups provide a platform for you to give feedback, hold Lancaster City Council as housing providers accountable, and make decisions about your homes and communities. This involvement can range from participating in tenant-led panels to providing input on future plans and projects affecting you and your communities.
In many cases, you as tenants form and lead groups that meet to discuss specific issues.
Regular Meetings:
You as members attend meetings to discuss housing management issues, such as repairs, estate maintenance, and anti-social behaviour.
Feedback Mechanisms:
Programs offer various ways for you to provide feedback, share ideas, and get involved, including email, phone, and in person.
Collaboration With Landlords:
The goal is to foster a constructive dialogue between you and Lancaster City Council Housing, ensuring needs and concerns are considered in decision-making processes.
Focus Areas:
"Tenants' Voice" initiatives include the review of services from your perspective as a tenant or leaseholder of Lancaster City Council Housing, such as the out-of-hours repairs service, planned maintenance, communication, and communal areas.
Training and Support:
Lancaster City Council Housing will provide training and support to help you participate effectively in these groups and take part in other steering or focus groups.
We understand that you as our tenants and leaseholders want to get involved in what you are passionate about. You want to get involved in a way and time that suits you, whether that is joining us for face-to-face activities, virtually on Microsoft Teams calls or just giving your views and feedback through online surveys and questionnaires.
Our involvement opportunities give you just that and our team are here to help and support you.
