Guaranteed interview scheme
Lancaster City Council is proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer and a Gold Award holder of the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
In line with our commitments to these schemes, and in order to attract a wide range of talent to our organisation we offer both disabled applicants and armed forces veterans a guaranteed interview should you meet the essential knowledge and educational requirements within the job description.
Whilst the scheme does not give you a guaranteed job offer; it does give you the opportunity to be fairly and equally assessed along with other candidates who meet the criteria for the role.
In order to be appropriately assessed under the guaranteed interview scheme please ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the essential knowledge and educational requirements for the role within your application.
If you have a disability, you should indicate on the equal opportunities monitoring section of the application form that you are disabled. You are not required to disclose the name or nature of the disability at the application stage.
Please note, therefore, that hiring managers do not automatically know the details of your condition(s). Hiring managers may ask however, should you be offered a role subsequent to your interview, what adjustments you may require during your employment.
Adjustments for the interview and selection process can be made if needed so please contact us if you require this. Please be assured that any adjustments you require will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not form part of any aspect of the assessment.
Armed forces veterans
If you are an armed forces veteran, please indicate this on the equal opportunities monitoring section of the application form.
All veteran applicants will be required to provide evidence at interview of their military status. The council reserves the right to withdraw any offer of employment made to an applicant who is found to have falsely claimed to be a veteran.
