Our licensing responsibilities and policies

We issue a wide range of licences and permits in the district:

  • Alcohol and Entertainment  - issuing and managing licences in respect of all premises that provide facilities for the supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment and the provision of late night refreshment
  • Taxi and Private Hire - licensing all Hackney and Private Hire vehicles and drivers in the area
  • Gambling - licensing premises for gambling, granting permits for gaming machines in clubs and institutes, regulating gaming machines in pubs and clubs and registering lotteries
  • Other licences and permits - from charitable collections to animal welfare and from acupuncture to motor salvage. See all licences and permits for full details

Gambling Act 2005 - Revised Statement of Licensing Policy (2019-2022)

Lancaster City Council has published its revised Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy.

Under the terms of the Gambling Act 2005 the council’s Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy has to be reviewed every three years. The current policy came into effect in January 2016.

The revised policy statement was published on 11th February 2019 and the revised statement of gambling licensing policy comes into force on the 18th March 2019.
