Cemeteries User and Visitor Survey
Using new powers made available to local authorities under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, we are considering introducing a ban on dogs within cemeteries
We know this can be an emotive topic and that irresponsible dog owners cause problems in all the council cemeteries but especially Morecambe and Torrisholme cemeteries.
Current local cemetery rules and regulations require dogs to be on a lead but this is widely ignored. Many dog owners are visiting the cemeteries purely to exercise their dogs.
