Halton Churchyard

Lancaster City Council is responsible for the administration and maintenance of seven cemeteries within the district. The Council is not responsible however, for the districts crematorium. This is the operated by a private sector company. These are as follows:

Grounds Maintenance Standards

Cemeteries User & Visitor Survey
Using new powers made available to local authorities under the Clean Neighbourhoods & Environment Act 2005, cemetery management are considering introducing a ban on dogs within cemeteries

We know this can be an emotive topic and that irresponsible dog owners cause problems in all the Council cemeteries but especially Morecambe & Torrisholme cemeteries.

Current local cemetery rules and regulations require dogs to be on a lead but this is widely ignored. Many dog owners are visiting the cemeteries purely to exercise their dogs.

We would always welcome your views.
